HRCSD seeks family input on proposed K-12 health curriculum materials

Hood River County School District (HRCSD) is inviting families and community members to provide feedback on proposed Health instructional materials for students in grades K-12. The district’s Health Curriculum Selection Committee has been reviewing materials since October 2024 and is seeking public input before making a final recommendation.

The committee, comprised of educators from across the school district, has evaluated materials for alignment with Oregon’s updated Health Education Standards and equitable, evidence-based teaching practices. Their goal is to recommend an engaging and student-centered curriculum that reflects the community's needs and diversity.

"We are committed to selecting high-quality, culturally responsive instructional materials that support all learners,” said Amy McConnell, HRCSD Curriculum and Instruction Executive Director. “Family and community input is an essential part of this process.”

Public Review Opportunity

Families and community members are invited to an in-person meeting to review the proposed instructional materials and share their thoughts directly with committee members:

Spanish interpretation will be available. Refreshments will be provided.

The committee will consider all feedback, publisher presentations, and in-depth reviews before making a final recommendation to district leadership.
