Strategic plan update from March 11 board meeting

Building on the recent community forums and collaborative research, the Hood River County School District reached a significant milestone this week. On March 11, the finalized proposed goals and objectives for the 2026-31 Strategic Plan were presented to the school board. This presentation marks the transition into the final stages of a process designed to ensure a dynamic and resilient roadmap for our students' future.

A Foundation of Proposed Core Values

The updated plan introduces five proposed core values that will serve as the district's guiding compass:

  • Equitable student learning and growth
  • Supportive and safe environment
  • Strong community and family partnerships
  • Resource stewardship
  • Committed and supported staff

Strategic Goals for 2026-31

The school district has identified five key goals to drive excellence:

  1. Equitable Student Learning and Growth: Preparing every student for success through high-expectation instruction and future-ready pathways.
  2. Supportive and Safe Learning Environment: Prioritizing student wellbeing and belonging through unified safety communications and integrated behavioral health.
  3. Strong Family and Community Partnerships: Establishing reliable two-way information exchanges and mobilizing volunteers to support academic needs.
  4. Resource Stewardship: Ensuring efficient and transparent allocation of tools and facilities through high-performance data systems and long-term fiscal accountability.
  5. Committed and Supported Staff: Equipping a diverse workforce with role-specific professional development and focusing on talent retention.

Next Steps: Moving Toward Action

With the goals and objectives now defined, the school district is moving into the next critical phase: developing specific action items. These practical steps will be reviewed by educators and the community before a final revision is presented for board approval later this spring.
