Shout out to Hood River Valley High School’s very own Troy Tactay
We are thrilled to announce that Mr. Tactay has been selected as a winner of the prestigious George Olmsted Prize for Excellence in Secondary School Teaching!
This national award recognizes outstanding teachers who have made a profound impact on their students' lives. Troy was nominated by former student Poppy Miller, who shared moving reflections about the difference he made in their educational journey.
As part of this honor, Mr. Tactay has been invited to attend Williams College Commencement in June, where he will be celebrated alongside other distinguished honorees. The award includes a $3,000 prize for Mr. Tactay and $5,000 for HRVHS!
We are incredibly proud and grateful to have educators like Troy in our schools — inspiring, empowering, and changing lives every day.
Congratulations, Mr. Tactay! You deserve every bit of this recognition!
